Club Director

When Nate started playing volleyball during senior year of high school he had no idea the ride he was in for! He was so bad at first that he got kicked off of his first club team.

The experience fired him up. So did riding the bench his entire sophomore season of college. Nate worked hard to eventually earn MVP and CCVC All-State honors by his senior season playing indoor volleyball at UC Davis.

In 2014, Nate moved to Colorado for graduate school and began regularly training for and competing in local beach volleyball tournaments. Upon completing graduate school at CU Boulder in 2016, he made the move to Hermosa Beach where his efforts training in beach volleyball resulted in qualifying for the 2017 AVP Manhattan Beach Open.

He moved back to Colorado in 2018 with the goal to share the knowledge, resources and top-level coaching that he had been exposed to while living in Hermosa. He now lives in Evergreen, CO where he runs Flourish Beach (summer/fall) and Aretas Volleyball Club (winter/spring) -- serving the Denver foothills community with youth and adult volleyball programs. In addition to still competing on the beach as much as possible, Nate enjoys mountain biking, hiking, reading, and tai-chi.

Nate believes that success is the action of doing your best - something he strives for on a daily basis!

Kai is a competitive and passionate college beach volleyball player who competed for University of Tampa as a freshman. Kai began playing indoor club volleyball when she was 12 years old.  She began playing in adult beach volleyball leagues that same year with her dad, and her passion for doubles beach volleyball took off from there.  Kai took first place in Vail King of the Mountain tournament when she was 14; and has been a top finisher as a junior player in the state.  At age 15, her drive to train harder and smarter took her to Florida to play as a pin hitter and setter for the 15 Red, National Volleyball League (NVL) team.  She contributed to 5, top 3 finishes in 15 Open.  She trained for 3 years in Florida and played in more than 150 tournaments, earning a qualifying bid for Nationals Beach Championships since she was in eighth grade.   Lars has been playing volleyball since he was born. His first memory of the game is rooting for his dad to lose at sand tournaments so that he could go home already.  Little did he know that his dad would be his partner when he won his first sand open tournament at 17 years old.

Lars is currently pursuing a degree in Elementary Education at the University of Northern Colorado with a music minor. Lars could not stay away from volleyball and found himself volunteering with the D1 women’s volleyball team at UNC for the past four years. He also founded men’s volleyball at UNC and served as the team’s president and coach. He enjoys being a mentor to his fellow teammates and encouraging them to reach for their highest potential through growth mindset and competitive consistency.

Development Program Head Coach

I grew up in Colorado Springs where unknown to me, I was developing a future coaching philosophy that
would become an obsession to help young people deal with the hurdles of learning and become self-
motivated to learn. As a former national class athlete I had the good fortune to have some great
coaches but also had to tolerate verbal abuse from adults that used their position of power in sport in a
very negative way and truly did not consider the ramifications on the athletes they were purportedly
Volleyball entered my life in college. My then girlfriend & now wife Sherri (Nov 1986), a former all-city
player at Kennedy HS, asked me to join a rec team at CSU and I fell in love with the sport (I was already
in love with Sherri). We began our doubles career after college where I continued to learn much over
the years.
Sherri and I are the proud parents of two children, Shannon and Flynn. They are why coaching entered
my life. I started coaching in 2004 because I wanted to introduce my children to basketball, a sport I love
and to share the learning experience with them. That was 16 years ago and I certainly have grown up
and learned valuable lessons with each team I coach (100+ & Counting) and try to apply those lessons to
my coaching.
I am a coach geared toward the mental aspects of learning in a competitive environment and guiding my
players outside of their comfort zones in order to push past their capabilities to improve their abilities,
while learning to overcome the mental trials that come along. I do this through praise, imagery and

Strength & Conditioning Coach

My name is Wade Bass. I am a performance coach and volleyball lover.  I became a performance coach because I believe in YOU. YOU are powerful beyond measure! With guidance, consistency, and belief in yourself, amazing results are absolutely possible. Being a part of YOUR journey is my life's passion.

I have multiple certifications under doctors of physical therapy for performance and injury prevention, along with nutrition certs, and many others. Health and fitness has been a significant part of my life for 15 years now and I am so grateful for this journey. I know that real tangible change is absolutely possible with effort and consistency. I believe in proper movement mechanics and the first step in improving function is helping athletes recognize what normal feels like and eliminating dysfunction. Once the athlete has a proper understanding of movement, we can ramp up intensity. It is an amazing journey to watch and absolutely worth the cognitive effort to create that mind body connection.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to coach your athlete! I am looking forward to seeing us all grow and flourish together!

Strength & Conditioning Coach

As a life long sport enthusiast with a focus on tennis and basketball as a competitive youth athlete, my love for volleyball began in college while supporting my wife as she accumulated awards in the RMAC.  Since then we have raised three daughters supporting them through more then 25 seasons of club, high school and collegiate volleyball.  As an adult competitor my experience has led to winning "The Old Town Marathon" in Fort Collins for my age group in 2002 and finishing first in the year end Colorado rankings as a 3.5 NTRP tennis player in 2006 and again as a 4.0 NTRP player in 2009.

In 2006 I became a certified ISSA fitness trainer with a Specialist in Performance Nutrition and opened my in-home fitness business, FlexTraining LLC, continuing today as a traveling trainer.  In 2011, I received my CrossFit Level 1 certification and in 2014 finished my Masters in Sports Performance Psychology.

My experience grew through on-court performance training provided at Momentum Volleyball club with Taz Bartling from 2010-2016.  Then beginning in 2014 supported the club through coaching seminars focused on various topics such as the Cycle of Achievement and Competitive Momentum Swings, while holding team gatherings at the request of individual coaches to discuss advantages and strategies for achieving full mental potential. For the 2019 season and the beginning of 2020, I provided Strength and Conditioning sessions for the Panthers Volleyball Club and coached Mountain Vista High School Boys JV team.
